Frequently asked questionsEverything you need to know to organise your Valentine's Day celebrations
- Do I need to book activities and restaurants in advance for Valentine's Day?
Yes, we strongly recommend that you book your activities and restaurant tables as soon as possible. Valentine’s Day is a very popular time of year in our region. Romantic restaurants are often fully booked several weeks in advance, and some activities such as evening snowshoe outings or spa packages have limited places. Contact the establishments directly or go through our Tourist Information Offices, which will be able to help you with your bookings.
- What's the budget for Valentine's Day?
The budget will vary according to your choices. Expect to pay around €15-25 per person for an activity such as snowshoeing or tobogganing, €60-150 for a duo spa package, and €50-100 for a romantic dinner in a fine restaurant. All-inclusive packages (accommodation + activities + meals) are offered by several establishments, with prices ranging from €200 to €500 for two people. Don’t hesitate to contact us for recommendations to suit your budget.
- Are the activities suitable for beginners?
Absolutely! Most of the activities on offer are accessible to all levels. Snowshoe walks are perfect for beginners, with easy, signposted routes. The resorts offer ski lessons for beginners, and fun activities like Snake Gliss or Wiz Luge require no previous experience. For ski touring or more technical outings, professional guides can accompany you and adapt the itinerary to your level.
- What to do if the weather is bad on 14 February?
Our region offers many alternatives in the event of bad weather. Enjoy a full day at the Uriage thermal baths, visit the Château du Touvet, discover our local museums, or opt for a cinema session followed by a romantic dinner. The high-altitude spas remain accessible on overcast days, adding to the cocooning atmosphere. Check our webcams and the local weather forecast before you come to adapt your programme.
- Is it possible to hire equipment on site (snowshoes, skis, etc.)?
Yes, all our mountain resorts have hire shops selling snowshoes, skis, snowboards and other equipment. Snowshoe hire generally costs between €8 and €15 a day. Don’t forget to book your equipment in advance for Valentine’s Day, especially if you have special sizes or requirements. Some establishments also offer packages that include hire and a guided activity.
- Is there any romantic accommodation in the region?
The region offers a wide range of accommodation for a romantic night’s sleep: charming hotels in the spa resorts, private chalets in the mountains, characterful bed and breakfasts in the valleys, or even unusual accommodation such as perched cabins. Several establishments offer Valentine’s Day packages including champagne, breakfasts in your room and spa access. Check out our “Where to stay” section or contact our Tourist Information Offices to find the accommodation that’s right for you.
