Pastoral management and wildlife conservation
Pastoral activity is now an integral part of the Grésivaudan’s agricultural and food policy, with the aim of maintaining local food production capacity. This implies balanced management of grazing areas to preserve biodiversity and natural habitats, particularly those of wildlife. Action is being taken to reconcile pastoral activities with ski areas and ensure harmonious cohabitation between different practices in the mountainous region.
Sustainable mountain tourism
Le Grésivaudan has been chosen as the winner of the Plan Avenir Montagne Ingénierie, receiving government funding for the recruitment of a project manager over a two-year period. This initiative aims to foster the transition to a resilient and sustainable tourism offering, with a focus on preserving ecosystems and making the most of local resources. A new governance structure for community resorts has been put in place to ensure more efficient and transparent management, including changes in property management and changes to leasing contracts.
Structuring outdoor activities
Efforts are being made to structure outdoor activities, in particular by setting up base camps in line with sustainable tourism development objectives. This involves assisting support communities in defining their projects and managing visitor flows, with specific investments to ensure the coherence and sustainability of these initiatives.
Soft mobility
Operational plan for transport
As part of its tourism and mountain policies, and in conjunction with SMMAG’s mobility policy, Le Grésivaudan has launched a project to overhaul its tourist transport and mobility offer for the entire region. While public transport for leisure and tourism purposes is already in place, the aim is to improve this offer:
- provide public transport that is better adapted to the needs of visitors and residents alike
- work on carbon-free mobility,
- add mobility-related services: lockers, reservation solutions, creation of ski passes and package products such as ski passes + transport, etc.
The mission, which will continue into 2023, aims to adjust the existing transport offer, and initiate the implementation of other mobility solutions. Changes to the mobility offer may be implemented as early as summer 2023 on an experimental basis.
Seasonal transport
Seasonal summer routes (“Destination fraîcheur”) and winter routes (“Destination Neige” or “skibus”) organized by the region connect major tourist sites with the urban areas and the Grésivaudan valley.are organized by the region to link major tourist sites with the urban areas and the Grésivaudan valley, and to encourage mobility among Grésivaudan residents and local day-trippers/tourists. In conjunction with SMMAG, Le Grésivaudan has adapted these lines for both seasons, to best meet the needs of users and tourist destinations. For the summer season, a replacement line has been introduced for the Funiculaire (closed since the bad weather at the end of 2021), and a reduced fare has been introduced for access to community facilities served by Destination Nature lines. For the winter season, creation of a Grenoble departure point for routes to Prapoutel – Les 7 Laux and Chamrousse, to encourage Grenoble residents – the majority of customers at these resorts – to leave their cars behind, and simplification of fares (€1).
